With a weighty bottom and comfy all-evening-long grip, Lowball glasses are the ole reliable when it comes to slow sipping on dark spirits. We wanted to celebrate the tradition of a lowball glass while making it our own. After many iterations we landed on the Pretentious Lowball, ready for large, small, or no ice, and enhanced by the signature lattice texture, giving it a treasured vintage feel.

Like the moon and sunlight perforating the lattice on your front porch and playing on the ground, the lattice of the Lowball refracts and shimmers in the light so it looks like your drink is dancing the slow song of your relaxing evening. It’s a real mood setter intensified only by a smooth sipping spirit and a friend to share with.

Pair it with our Facet Decanter, a sharing and storing vessel designed specifically with our Lowball in mind.

When you think about the quintessential lowball glass, you think of a hefty weight, a comfortable grip and enjoying the gorgeous amber glow of your favorite whiskey.  So when I designed the lowball for pretentious, I didn’t want to mess with the overall format too much.  Classic lowball shape.  But we had to bring it up a few notches!  I played around with several textures before landing on this vintage diamond texture.  It does marvelous feats with the refraction of light/color, while encouraging a meandering enjoyment of the surface.  This texture also lets you confidently hold the beverage in one hand while the other is holding a cigar, or gesturing emphatically while engaging in some good conversation.

In glassblowing, we can use molds in a variety of different ways.  Some help with consistency of form/volume, some help with colorations, and in this case, molds can add texture.  For the diamond texture, we have a bronze mold with hundreds of tiny Pyramid shaped protrusions on the inside.  While the glass is incredibly hot, we blow into the mold, allow the glass to take that texture, then suck air out so that the glass becomes smaller and is released from the pyramid insets.  Once the texture is applied, we have a very limited window to shape the glass into the lowball form before the working heat starts to melt the pattern away.  Making this glass more of a mad sprint with molten glass than a marathon.

This handcrafted blown-glass whiskey glass is simple, classic, and yet bold in design! This glass is perfect for bourbon or whiskey, drink on the rocks or neat if you prefer!
